Is deforestation to be considered development? On the road between Chapare and Cochabamba we met this truck with logs. In the jeep we were driving I clutched the seats, with my fingers because the roads did not at all seem safe, judged by standards at home. We actually saw two or three quite serious traffic accidents before we reached La Paz. A truck loaded with people, tilted off the road, halted only seconds before it would have rolled down the mountainside...
